Ka’s Evil Twin

In case you’ve missed it, the Sport Ka’s adverts can be found here. There’s also a good explanation as to why the link at the end of the advert doesn’t work and how the wholesome image of Ford has been protected while a near the knuckle advert gains them kudos.

Need a map?

Then try Map24, probably the most impressive web based map engine I’ve seen and well worthy of a Webby award.

Google to float

Finally, Google has announced it’s to float on the stock exchange. Be nice to own a share to go with my mug.

A9.com

New web search engine from…Amazon! A9.com uses Google as its main search engine but adds a couple of nice features. Firstly your search results will contain any book references which are found in a seperate tab. Also, if you have an Amazon account and log into a9.com your search history will be displayed – handy when trying to remember how you found a particular website. Like Google they also have a browser toolbar which has the same features as Google but also contains a ‘diary’ feature where you can store comments/to-do’s against any websites. Nice.

However it looks more like Amazon trying to capture sales than anything else, and also the searches return less results than Google. Maybe they only have access to some of Google’s search engine? And I don’t like the idea of search results tied to my user account ties to my purchases. I’ll stick to Google for now.

Grouphug

The Glasgow Story

A new website has just been launched all about Glasgow called The Glasgow Story. The site is a collection of stories and pictures describing the history of Glasgow. Some of the content is excellent. Click here to see a picture of where I work, although its slightly more modern now (but not much).

Webs Favourite Colour

Update on the progress of the webs favourite colour. Its definetly a drab red/wine colour, which is pretty surprising – would have though a blue based on the sky and water shots or green as a lot of photo’s have grass. The wonders of the net, eh?

eBay – user details auction

eBay will give away user details to basically anyone with a fax machine according to The Register and The Sunday Herald. If true, what else can easily be accessed – how many websites are you registered with?
